Loving Your LIfe

Loving your life is a decision only you can make, but it’s the one thing that will make all the difference in the world! None of us asked to be brought into this world, but once we are, it’s our decision to make it a great life or a miserable one. No matter what country or family you were born into, you can decide to be happy and productive. There is no benefit in playing the victim and saying the world’s against you. Believe me, I’m fighting with this mindset change right now. With Canada just coming out of a disastrous election process, I have to admit I’m seriously struggling. What I’ve realized is that I have a decision to make; victorious life or defeated one?

Deciding to live a Victorious Life!

Although my inclination is to crawl back under the covers and not get out of bed again, that’s not a possibility for me! I have a family of 4 and 5 pets that need me. Knowing that I chose to get married, have children, and adopt 5 pets, means I don’t get to play the victim. I chose it, I’m responsible to handle the consequences. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t see my family as “consequences”, they are blessings. As mentioned above, they give me purpose in life and great joy as well. If it was just me…well, let’s not go there!

That’s what makes decisions so powerful. You can decide to rob a bank and spend the rest of your life in jail. Or, you can decide to get a job, work hard, and build a life you love! It all comes down to that amazing gift God gave us at creation; the ability to choose. God knew the option for us to choose meant we might not chose to follow Him, but He gave it to us anyway! With that gift, we have the power to change everything in our lives at any time. The key is to make your decisions wisely.

Where do you start?

So you’ve made some bad decisions and your life isn’t what you want it to be, how do you change now? You start by making the decision that you are going to try something new. For example, you decide you are no longer going to rob banks, and you are going back to school. You decide that the path your government officials are taking is ruinous, and it’s time to migrate somewhere with values and morals that fit you better. You decide to accept that new job, marriage proposal, or adventure.

Once you decide that you are no longer going to be a victim, your whole life will open up. This decision will provide you will the power you need to meet each new possibility head on! I remember as a kid I used to dream of the day when I got to make all the choices in my life. Once I went off to university and all the choices were mine, I quickly realized how good I had it growing up!

What happens if I make a mistake?

Mistakes happen to all of us. They can be discouraging, but everything is fixable. It may take longer, but you can still get to where you want to be when you decide not to give up. So when things don’t go as you planned, take a moment to think about what you want to do next. There is not only one road to get to a particular destination, so alter your course and keep going. Staying flexible and open to new ideas is key.

Showing yourself grace is essential to moving forward. Everyone makes mistakes, so don’t beat yourself up when it happens to you. Take a moment to understand why it happened so you can prevent it from happening again. Then look at what your options are to fix the mistake. Perhaps you didn’t expect the outcome of your decision, or miscalculated the next step. Now you know what not to do next time! As long as you can learn from the mistake, you can turn the experience into something positive.

How did I learn to love my life?

I decided that “whatever today brings, I will love my life!” You can make that your affirmation statement or mantra that you say whenever you need too! Knowing that I can change pretty much anything that comes my way is exhilarating! If I don’t like where I’m living, I can move. If I don’t like where I’m working, I can change jobs. If I don’t like what I see on the news, I can change the channel. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not putting my head in the sand. Ignoring what is happening in the world isn’t helpful, but I can chose which articles I read, and what sources I trust.

You can do this too. I’ve really had to discipline myself not to fall down the rabbit hole of main stream media story telling. I have a few news sources that I trust, none of them from Canada’s corrupt main stream media. When I feel my temperature rising, I stop watching or reading. I try to inform friends and family of what’s going on behind the scenes in politics, but if they don’t want to hear, there’s not much else I can do.

Giving it all to God

Most of all I’ve decided to give it all to God. I’ve done everything I can as a good citizen, paid my taxes, stayed informed, tried to help inform others, and voted. There have been some very challenging, dark days for me in the past few weeks. It wasn’t until I finally gave it all to God, that the light was able to break through again! Every time I hear about a new lie the current leader has deceived Canadians with, I sigh and say, “take care of it Lord, this one’s yours.”

I will continue to monitor the current leadership policy changes and corruption, and when God tells us it’s time to go, we will be ready. For now, we are trusting in God’s providence that we are where He wants us to be, and that He will provide everything we need. He’s always been faithful to us, and I know He always will be.

In Conclusion

Loving your life is a choice. It’s a decision that you get to make every day. You can make your life spectacular when you stop playing the victim, and start making the choices that get you to where you want to be. Including God in your life is a decision that will make loving your life even easier. He is in charge of everything, so being able to hand off the things you can’t control, will take a weight off your shoulders like never before. Life is incredibly short, so why not decide to love your life? Make it what you want it to be, and let God take care of the rest!
