Feeling You Are Less Than A Masterpiece?
Do you suffer from low self esteem, constantly comparing yourself to others? Do you feel less than everyone else, and that no matter what you do you’ll never measure up? I just wanted to share a few things with you that I think you might find helpful. In this day and age, with all our AI tools, computer advancement and technology, one of the big problems is the amount of doctoring that can happen to photographs, not to mention what we see on film.
Evidently, deepfakes are a real thing now, so you can make anybody do, say, or sing anything you want. Although that can be kind of entertaining to watch, it can also be deeply hurtful. For those whose images are being used for this often don’t have a say in what’s being done. Subsequently, they’re photoshopping and changing many of the attributes of these already beautiful models, actresses, and actors. In doing so, they are changing the reality of what humans actually look like into some ideal that doesn’t even exist.

When you look up models like Tyra Banks and Kate Moss on YouTube , you’ll find interviews about this. They openly talk about going for photoshoots, and when they see the final result in the magazines, they don’t even recognize themselves because they’ve been so doctored. Despite their natural beauty, the print editors have lengthened arms, legs, various body parts, facial features, even skin tone.
Isn’t Technological Advancement Good?
Although it’s really amazing what technological advancements can do, the problem is that they’re dealing with human beings. Human beings were created in the image of God, and thus we don’t need any additional improvements. Consequently, so many young men and women of all ages, (I still fall prey to this) see these unattainable images on the magazine covers, billboard ads, TV shows and movies and feel less than. When you look at these images you realize you don’t look like that, and begin doubting your self worth.
Subsequently thoughts of, “What’s wrong with me? Why don’t I look like that? Why don’t I look like what the media is telling me beautiful people are supposed to look like? This is a problem because nobody can live up to what these images are portraying. Understandably, that’s a problem especially for women, as we compare ourselves all the time. I still do it at my age, although I’m working hard on not comparing myself to others. Regardless, it causes you to always be looking at everybody else to see if you measure up and it can cause havoc to your self esteem and self worth.
Are The Images Even Real?
These questions of “Do I fit in? Am I good enough? Am I pretty enough? Where do I fit in this world?” cause so much damage to our self worth. So when they put these absolutely unobtainable images in the magazines, movies, and social media, it makes us feel less than when we’re not. Once you realize that those images you are comparing yourself to are not even real, it gives you the freedom to take a breath and accept yourself for who you are.
Often male actors, who are going to have their shirt off for a movie scene, will pretty much starve or severely restrict themselves for the six months prior to a shoot. If you look up any of the Marvel actors, they all say the same. Henry Cavill is one that’s been quite honest about it, claiming that he will be eating pretty much chicken, rice, and drinking water for six months before a shoot: No carbs – nothing.

Hugh Jackman, who did Wolverine is another one who’s been very vocal about this. He talks about the restricted diet, and hours of exercise. These men have to exercise pretty much all the time. For example, if they weren’t on set, and they weren’t sleeping, they were pretty much exercising to create these “ideal” male bodies. He’s quite funny in his interviews about it. If you’ve seen the Wolverine movies, he’s so grumpy, angry, frustrated, and lashes out at everybody all the time. He said it really wasn’t hard to get into character because he was practically starving and he actually was very cranky!
You Are A Masterpiece
So, you know what? That’s not how we were meant to live. That’s not what God wanted for us. In reality, the ideal the media promotes is not what our bodies are supposed to be. It’s not natural to have to be focused 24/7 on your body image, that’s not what God wants for us. God wants us to be happy, healthy, and to enjoy life. That means adopting a healthy lifestyle that balances healthy eating, exercise, and sleep. And you know what? He calls us His masterpiece!
In Ephesians 2:10, in the New King James versions says:
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we would walk in them.”
Now Ephesians 2:10 in the New Living Translation says:
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
You know what? God loves us!!! In Romans 8:31 he says:
“And what then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”
In Romans 8:37-39, it discusses how if we have God in our lives, nothing can tear us away from his love. He will always be there to protect us, love us, and guide us.
37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Something Important God Want You To Know!
Did you know that when He created Adam and Eve, we were created in His image? That’s extremely important to fully understand. Although we’re not all carbon copies, we’re created in His loving nature and He loves us. He designed YOU. Did you know that He wanted you in this world so you could be with Him for eternity? Just imagine all the multiple generations, going back through time, that He had to make sure met each other so you cold be born!
God made sure they all got together in order to create you: it’s truly astounding! He did all that because He knows how amazing you are and He wants you with Him for eternity! When I found that out about myself, it was a game changer for my mental health. I mean, it’s pretty incredible that when They were designing the world that They said, “You know what? It will not be the same if she’s not there or if he’s not there.”
Where Should We Put Our Worth?
The whole concept is truly mind blowing. It just shows how much God really, really loves you! As a result, it’s really important that we put our worth in the fact that we are children of a very loving and compassionate God. We don’t put our worth in our grades, in our parents, in our jobs, in our salaries, or in our friend groups. We put our worth in something unchangeable by fads: We put it in Him.
You need to put your worth in Jesus Christ, in the fact that you are a child, a chosen child of God. And when you choose in return to become that chosen child of God, everything else will fall into place. God will always take care of you, provide for you, be there for you, and He was always love you. There will never be a time, on this planet that you will not be loved and cared for when you choose Jesus as your Lord and Saviour.
Embrace Being A Masterpiece
Embracing how God see’s me is something that I’ve had to come to terms with in the last five years. When God says that I am His masterpiece, I must believe and accept that I am. I know that God doesn’t lie: He’s the same yesterday, today, and forever. He is the only one that speaks the absolute truth, that you can trust with anything. So if God says you’re his masterpiece, then you are. Because if you claim you’re not, then you’re calling God a liar. And we know God can’t lie.
We also know that Jesus was the only person who walked the earth who did not sin. So you can put your trust in Jesus and God, and you can put all your worth in being a beloved child of God. By doing that, it takes away all the other stuff that today’s culture wants us to believe and follow. None of that garbage is true. That’s all side dressings created by Satan to lead us away from God.
Giving Satan The Boot
Since Satan and the fallen angels were pushed out of heaven, they have been trying to hurt God and hurt Jesus in any way they can. Consequently the best way they can do that is to pull us away from God; preventing us from believing and trusting in Him. However, the best way to hurt Satan is to ignore all this other stuff, and put your trust in Him. God created you perfectly just the way you were when you were born. Most importantly, God does not make mistakes. That’s another one of Satan’s lies. That’s not God’s truth in any way. God doesn’t make mistakes and He has wonderful, extraordinary plans for you!
