I have suffered from migraines for over 30 years. I have discovered that hot and cold therapy reduces the pain greatly, and most often removes them completely. Here is how you do it.
What you will need for hot and cold therapy:
- 2 dry towels.
- 2 towels placed in the coldest water you can handle or an Ice Gel Cap.
- A bucket of the hottest water you can handle without burning yourself.
- Relaxing background music.
- Someone to help you.
The process of hot and cold therapy:
- Place one dry towel on the chair behind your head to protect the furniture. Place one on the floor under the bucket of hot water to protect your floor.
- Put the cold towel or frozen gel cap on your head. Adjust the frozen gel cap to a position that is comfortable. You can pull it lower down on you face as your body adjusts to the cold.
- Put your feet in the bucket of hot water.
- Put on music of your choice and relax.
- Have an assistant replace the cold towel on your head, and add hot water to the bucket every 5 minutes for 20-30 minutes. The frozen gel cap doesn’t need to be replaced as it will stay cold for a long time.
- When the pain resolves, put on warm socks, take a nap, or continue on with your day!
- If you have a frozen gel cap, you can do the process in the bath tub with the heat as high as you can tolerate without burning yourself. You don’t need to change the cap since is will stay cold for a very long time.
