Often, once the illness has really set in, our instinct is to shut ourselves away. Saying no is something that comes very easily when we are toddlers, but gets harder as we grow up. It’s this inability to say no, that leads to us over scheduling and overdoing things in order to impress others and get ahead. This also leads to not taking care of ourselves, and leads to chronic illness and sometimes even Fibromyalgia. Here is why it’s so important to learn to say no again, and be ok with it.

What is friendship to you? Friendship means different things to different people, and there are many different categories of friends. A quick Google search describes categories of anywhere from 4 to 14 different kinds! I think I’ll stick to the simplest list of 4 types: Acquaintances, Casual friends, Close friends, and Intimate or lifelong friends. Although each category has different expectations attached to them, it’s important to be able to recognize the behaviour of a true friend, and one who is not.

Here are some tips for overcoming overwhelm from someone who knows: me. I have had a long history with anxiety and depression, and sometimes they like to come back and remind me how far I’ve come.
